Summary: | Dengue viruses causes illnesses such as fever, rash for the milder cases and haemorrhagic fever and stock syndrome for the severe cases. It was first noticed in 1950s during the dengue epidemics in Philippines and Thailand. With 4 distinct serotypes, being infected by one provides one with immunity to that one strain but not the others. In fact, it increases one’s risk of death should a previously infected patient gets infected by another strain. As such, it is vital to understand the structure and binding within the dengue protein. It will provide us with valuable insight as to how to design a safe and suitable vaccine against the dengue fever. As NS3 and NS5 was mentioned to be involved in viral replication, by using molecular dynamics simulation, multiple different conformations of these two proteins will be formed and the one with the most stable conformation will be determined and further studied. |
