Summary: | Liver cancer is a disease with high mortality rates and often occurs in individuals aged 40 to 50 years old. Over the years, the incidence of liver cancer has increased, with chronic viral infections and alcoholism as the main causative factors of this disease. This project, conducted by a two-member team, was brought about with the aim to create and raise awareness of liver cancer in the general community. Even though the tasks assigned to each member were different, they all revolved around a common slogan which is “Care for your liver, life will be livelier!”. For my role in this project, I was tasked to create two posters that would provide sufficient information and at the same time, emphasize on the importance of the prevention of liver cancer. A total of 4 posters were placed inside the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) building in areas of higher human traffic with students, staffs and even visitors as the main target audiences. In addition, my team mate designed a brochure that was printed and placed in common areas of the building. An online survey was also conducted to garner feedback on efficacy of such posters and brochures in promoting awareness of liver cancer. About 85% of the respondents felt that the materials allowed them to gain more knowledge about liver cancer. Lastly, a Facebook page and website were created to widen the range of target audience as well as to provide more detailed information on liver cancer. |
