One of the widely used standard qualification process for aerospace brazing is known as ISO 11745 Brazing for Aerospace Applications — Qualification test for Brazes and Brazing Operators — Brazing of metallic components. This standardization describes the details step by step requirement of the minimum degree of manual skill and technical knowledge. The standardization mainly emphasis on qualification of nine brazing processes for both brazer and brazing operator along with the respective test based on the specific selected test piece position. These nine braze processes are namely Infrared Brazing, Flaming Brazing or Troch Brazing, Induction Brazing, Resistance Brazing, Diffusion Brazing, Furnace Brazing, Vacuum Brazing, Dip bath brazing and Salt Bath Brazing. Other information such as Material Group, Material Thickness Range, Filler Material Range and Designation of qualification test are described clearly in the standardization. The objective of the project is to develop the expert system software which greatly simplify the standardization process. The expert system was built using the FIlemaker Pro Advance Software. The expert system has four main parts: “Home Page”, “Add Applicant Page”, “Applicant List Page” and “Reference Page”. The Home Page is the main page is used to connect other three pages through the use of interactive and user friendly buttons. The Add Applicant Page can be considered as main layout since it is used to create the record for the applicant (brazer or brazing operator) and carried out the standardization process where a lot of qualification process will be carried out by the expert system based on the information entered by the user while Applicant List Page is used to provide the overview of all the records created using Applicant Page. The last page, the Reference Page contain all the standardization documents that are relevant to ISO 11745 and the page enable user to read all the standardizations in pdf format. The expert system can also be used in other computers without the need of installing the FIlemaker Pro Advance Software. This is because the expert system file is converted to executable file (.exe) using the runtime solution function of the File Maker Pro Advance. Thus, interchangeability of the expert system has been greatly improved. The expert system can be also made to available in the installer version like other official software. The overall design of the expert system has meet all the main requirement and able to execute without any difficulties.
