| Summary: | This research examines the minimal impact of draconian laws on the voting patterns of Singaporean youths. These laws, which go against democratic ideals, do not perturb many youths when they cast their votes during elections. Through semi-structured interviews with 6 Singaporean youths, this paper attempts to interrogate and disentangle the causes behind the People’s Action Party’s ability to continue to win the trust of Singaporean youths despite the use of draconian laws in recent years. This paper concludes by acknowledging that this is mainly due to the heavy indoctrination of official narratives and propagandas, and the lack of alternative choices to assure Singaporeans that their basic necessities would be met even if the leadership changes. |
