Identifying a faulted low voltage cable in the distribution network and restoring supply are required to be done below a 3-hour period. However, safety cannot be disregarded for this rushing job and therefore the Fault Box is design to protect the responding officers to quickly restore electricity supply.
The Fault Box is to assist in determining a low voltage underground cable status. Namely, Healthy where cable can function normally, phase to phase shorted and if there is a T-off along the feeder.
An inductor limits the high fault current from damaging other components. Coupled with different rating Miniature Circuit Breaker to trip upon the detecting the fault current. Test lamps in the Fault Box will be the indication to the status of the tested cable.
Together with the process of Sectioning and Phasing Out the cables, the faulted underground cable could be quickly identified and isolated and load can be transferred to other source in the distribution network. |
