Summary: | Biomedical research is highly driven by its related benefits in which are constantly sought in today’s society. In this study, attempts are made to investigate and substantiate a hypothesis; cardiovascular diagnosis through cooling and rewarming means. This paper compiles background knowledge on the human circulatory system, guiding the reader from biology to foundational fluid dynamics. Focusing on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the later chapters, guides and tips are provided on the usage of ANSYS Fluent and ICEM. After which, validation of a literature will be done, followed by exploration on the effects of Intermittent Cooling and Continuous Cooling. Results suggest a possible use of this method on stenosis detection, from the temperature disparity of 0.5K between a clear vessel and 75% stenotic case on the surface of the applied region. |
