In a airborne LIDAR system, it usually measure a three-dimensional set of point with irregular spacing and store the data in computer. By using the Matlab application, unwanted measurement are removed, thus a digital terrain model (DTM) can be generated fast and accurately. In this report, we use the morphological filter and progressive morphological filter to remove unwanted LIDAR measurements. The main target of this project is improving the filter processing time. Thus a Visual C++ code is combined with progressive morphological filter. The experiments in different size of data are shown that the progressive morphological filter with a Visual C++ code was more effective in processing the data. LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging)is one of the most popular optical remote sensing technologies. This advanced technologies are widely used in topography,
archaeology, geography, remote sensing, atmospheric physics field.
