As a major part of the development strategy for China's economy, the importation of FDI has exerted a strong impact on economic growth, employment expansion, technology improvement, trade development, institutional changes and so on, which in turn has benefited greatly China's economy. However, it has also given rise to many problems. To maintain sustainable, healthy and steady development of the Chinese economy, one of the major issues that we should carefully study is how to keep the momentum for the importation of FDI and to improve the quality of FDI. This dissertation deals with the issue of China's utilization of FDI on the basis of the combination of theory and positivism. It analyses the necessity of importing FDI theoretically, looks back on the contribution of imported FDI and its negative effects, and puts up with several approaches to the said negative effects. In addition, the dissertation also deals with the causes of the Southeast Asian Financial Crisis from the view of the importation and utilization of FDI, and their enlightenment and implications for China's FDI importation.
