Description
Summary:Smart nation requires talent to be groomed from young, by inserting computing subjects to public school curriculum. Traditional teaching methods are too limited and may not be suitable for computing subjects. Serious Games, as a new form of teaching method, will better cater to learning requirements. Therefore, a serious game to teach coding is implemented in this project to test learning effectiveness and passion stimulation. The process for this project starts with analyzing related works on their limitations. Then it continues with generating ideas to connect game design with formal learning guidelines. Next, it follows the visualization of ideas using a wireframe. Finally, it ends with implementation of ideas using wireframe as the base. Throughout the process, various considerations directed at learning effectiveness and passion stimulation are applied. A survey was carried out to determine the extent to which the game work in meeting project objectives and in turn, making progress in the problem. The results are positive and insights are gained on Serious Games. Future studies can use this project as a model to implement more Serious Games and include additional considerations unavailable in this project.
