Good communication can lead the world to peace and harmonic, while bad communication may lead the world to the wrong way. The famous quote that Nelson Mandela had ever said: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” Mandela’s words brought huge influence on South African society and even rest of the world. However, unfortunately people’s communication abilities sometimes are taken away by diseases like stroke or brain tumor or other damages that affect language control parts of the brain. The purpose of this project is to provide a solution for the patients that have lost their linguistic abilities and bodies’ mobilities to communicate normally with others. In this project, the developer would design a graphical user interface for the patients on C# platform. It has a special virtual keyboard layout which is different from the traditional “QWERTY” keyboard. The developer also used the hardware equipment, BioRadio BF from Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies as a signal receiver to capture Electrooculography (EOG) signal from human eyes. MATLAB was used to capture and process the raw signals and it will generate data in the form of letters to be sent to C# platform. These letters were then to be translated by C# to the actual words that the user wanted to type or express. Lastly, the report will compare the current results with the previous project developer’s. Conclusions and recommendations for future development will be provided and as well as the limitation of this project.
