Due to a variety types of information available, both positive and negative influences are imposed on travelers’ route choices. Decision made on travelers’ route choice resulted from several factors, such as individual preference, information availability, accuracy of provided information, as well as travelers’ compliance towards it. The effectiveness of traffic information on travelers’ route choice is closely affected by the format and accuracy of traffic information. In Singapore, there are various ways to deliver traffic information to travelers, such as electronic boards on expressway, traffic radio, and smartphones apps. With the widespread of traffic information nowadays, majority of travelers are easily influenced and tend to reconsider their original travel decisions when they are provided with a more effective path. However, if the influenced traveler all decide to change their route choice and adopt the recommended route, the traffic condition will be worsened in a way that the congestion will be shifted to the recommended route. Therefore, in order to improve the effectiveness of traffic system and system performance, it is important to understand how information affects travelers’ travel behavior, and to appreciate how will traffic information contribute to achieve a better traffic condition. Moreover, due to the difference in people’s personality and past experiences, even when the same format of information been provided to commuters, they react differently. Therefore, monitoring and evaluating on how travelers’ personality affects their travel behavior is necessary. The aim of the paper is to study the impacts of traffic information on travelers’ decision behavior through study the available types of traffic information, model travelers’ reaction towards various types of information provided, hence construct a comprehensive case study to identify the key parameters generated.
