Global warming also known as climate change is a major factor which leads to green energy resources. Green power is electricity are generated from renewable resources such as biofuel, biogas, wind, rain, tides, waves and sunlight. Amongst available renewable resources, solar energy is the only practically available resource in Singapore due to geographical location and climate. Singapore being located near the equator, the amount of solar radiation received is significant and consistent year-round compared to other countries. Hence, solar energy is the gifted source of Singapore’s alternative energy in electricity generation. The objective of this project is to investigate total load and total renewable generation from Photovoltaic (PV) system in a residential building and select the size of converter based on the investigated data.
