Summary: | Around four decades ago, China and India both had negligible stocks of inward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In the four decades since, after reforms, a large gap has developed and China has attracted over four times the amount of FDI vis-à-vis India. Why has China attracted so much more FDI than India? Adopting a different approach from most previous studies in the literature, I examine the interplay between politics and economics that contributed to this phenomenon through the framework of a comparative study. |
