在研究新加坡华人移民史时，女性移民往往会被人忽视。 除了有特点的女性移民如“红头巾”和“妈姐”因形象独特成为研究者感兴趣的议题，其他女性移民研究经常被藏在男性移民研究中。女性移民其实是个值得探讨的议题。她们在无论是在家庭、经济还是社会方面都有一定的贡献。在1980年代至2000年代，新加坡出现了很多以历史为题材的戏剧，大多以移民生活为主。其中《出路》的不仅女性形象鲜明，还体现了一般女性移民的生活。因此，本研究将通过探讨《出路》的女性形象，女性困境和讨论她们如何渡过难关，在新加坡落地生根，以试图体现早期女性移民的生活样貌。除此之外，本研究也将通过分析《出路》女性形象的形象形成原因和研究价值，讨论女性形象在戏剧中的作用和如何影响观众对早期女性移民的印象。 When analysing the history of Singapore’s early Chinese immigrants, female immigrants are often neglected. Other than those that are more unique, such as “Samsui Women” and “Amahs”, studies on other female immigrants are often hidden within the studies of male immigrants. Whether is it family, the economy or the community, early female immigrants have indeed contributed to the society. Therefore, there is value in studying the lives of early female immigrants. During the 1980s to 2000s, there were many drama series using history as its backdrop, which focuses on the lives of early immigrants. Among them is the drama series Stepping Out, whose female images are eye-catching and talks about the lives of female immigrants. Through analysing its female image, female challenges and female’s ways of dealing with challenges, one aims to shed light on the lives of early female immigrant. Other than that, the formation of female image and research value of Stepping Out would be analysed to understand the roles female images plays in the film and how it affects audience’s image of early female immigrants.
