Summary: | Heteroacenes are a class of organic compounds with broad applications in organic electronics and energy storage. Despite the promising applications, the synthesis and hence, properties of these compounds have never been studied. This project investigates synthesis schemes to the production of four novel heteroacenes, all with a 5,7-diazapentacene framework. The synthesis schemes include reactions like Sonogashira coupling and Tandem Arylation/Friedel-Crafts reactions. We successfully devised a four-step synthesis scheme to one of the novel compounds. To confirm structure, all synthesized compounds were characterized with a 1H and 13C NMR. |
