Summary: | This research project examines how urban parks in Singapore contribute to the city’s landscape and lifestyle. With over 68 parks found across the country, Singapore is widely known by a global audience as a City in a Garden. However, researchers have not explored the perceptions of residents on whether they agree on this image. This research seeks to fill this gap by exploring deeper into the perceptions of residents. The actions of the government are also being analyzed to investigate how urban parks constructed by them play a role in the city’s landscape and lifestyle of residents. Taking into consideration two different urban parks in Singapore, East Coast Park and Gardens by the Bay, the perceived purpose of urban parks by the government and residents, and how they contribute to the city’s landscape and lifestyle is being explored. |
