There is a wide range of research available, each covering different subject, such as general research where members of any discipline can participate, or a specific research topic such as artificial intelligence, targeting only members who acquire the required set of skills and knowledge. In some university, research grant calls have been broadcasted to the faculty members of all schools and disciplines via email. The broadcasting of emails includes the subsequent updates of the research grant call, regardless of the members’ interests. Therefore, this may cause an inconvenience to the uninterested parties. In this project, a web-based application with a responsive user interface will be developed, taking into considerations of the above-mentioned problem, and some other underlying processes that can be further enhanced. The main algorithm behind this system will involve a subscriber-to-email process, which will greatly eliminate the problem of getting involved in irrelevant research grant calls. The targeted users of this system include the Research Office (RSO) user, School Research Office (SRO) user, and faculty members of all schools. The project requires the knowledge on the standard software development processes, and it uses the iterative Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) model. Technologies used include a few frameworks such as Bootstrap and Laravel, some libraries such as Supervisord, and a few commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components such as amCharts and FullCalendar. At the end of this project, a stable and complete system will be delivered, fulfilling the initial requirements of the project. Subsequent enhancement requirements will be put into the next phase of this system.
