With the rising number of elderlies in an ageing population, more people were diagnosed with dementia, and this had placed high level of distress on caregivers. The absence of medical treatment for dementia till today, had sparks researchers around the globe to find a breakthrough in the treatment one day. The person-centred care approach for dementia was found to be an effective way in treating the condition of a dementia patient. This approach requires caregiver to know the desires of their patients and have them take part in their favourite activities, thereby slowing down or preventing the symptoms of dementia. With so much emphasis placed on the individualism of eachpatient, this could stress out the caregivers in a care centre. To reduce the workload on the caregiver, technology could play apart and give rise to more effective healthcare services. In this project, a Person-Centred Care system was created to assist the caregivers who were responsible for taking care of their patients and increasing the efficiency of dementia care in a care centre. The system consisting of an Android App, provides the caregiver access to knowledge about their patients and organise scheduled activities to be done in the care centre. This system was developed by the previous batches of FYP students and is taken over by new incoming FYP students for maintenance and further improvements. The ultimate outcome of this project was to improve the efficiency of the healthcare services by the caregiver. Hence, as a front-end team member, the scope of this project was to improve the quality and experience of this application to its end user, mostly caregiver. To achieve that, several revamps tothe Pear App were made over the author’s FYP project duration, such as migration to a middleware layer using API calls and implementation of feature to add, remove or update patient’s details. The improvement on the response time using API to middleware layer and the intuitiveness of social history page were achieved. Other improvements and bug fixes also contribute to the overall project objective. This report will provide the technical details behind this project and summaries of work done by the author.
