In this Final Year Project (FYP), the aim is to use technology to aid in the teaching of different religious deities and their associated iconographies. This project will be focused on shrines found in both Singapore and Sri Lanka. There are many ways to go about to use technology to aid in teaching. In this project, it was decided that Augmented Reality (AR) and Global Positioning System (GPS) would be used in the development of a system. This system, “Shrine Project”, focuses on crowd sourcing to obtain details of shrines and user engagement in learning more about shrines found around them. Shrine Project comprises of 2 key subsystems, an Android mobile application and a WordPress website. Mobile application can be further broken down into Cloud Recognition and Map Clustering. The planning, technology and development of the system are detailed within this report.
