While advancements are made to improve autonomous navigation and obstacle detection feasible, less effort was spent in preparing the passenger's expectations of that future - riding inside a vehicle without a human driver steering the car. According to a 2017 survey of 1,012 U.S. adults, three-quarters of drivers would be afraid to ride in a self-driving vehicle. Drawing inspiration from natural interactions with human drivers and providing new ways to show contextual information, this project aims to create an in-car experience that reduces passenger anxiety by improving car-to-passenger interactions. |
