Many problems have arisen due to the Aging population, widening of generation gap is one of the issue experience in Singapore. With technology advancing day by day, we can bridge the gap through technologies and providing solutions with the use of smart devices. It has been researched that many elderlies are ending their life due to loneliness and lack of care from their families. Thus, a good research on elderly behavior and psychological thinking is important before providing a possible solution to ease the loneliness and bridge the gap between the elderly and the younger adults. In this current smart device world, many families own such at least one smart device in their home. Making use of the device, we can provide a solution to the problem. Companionship is vital for many relationships; however, everyone have their own busy schedule and tend to neglect the person closest to them. Thus, a proposed solution to provide a simulated companionship is done in this project. To solve the problem of elderly feeling lonely due to the lack of social communication between themselves and their friends and family as well as the outside world. This project can potentially be extended with implementations of artificial intelligence to provide a whole new level of companionship to the elderly. With bot to talk to, elderly would feel more cared and less lonely. Data analysis on the daily communication between the bot and elderly can create reports on any possible illness such as Depression and Dementia.
