The project was also created in an attempt to explore how certain topics can be presented in the arts scene. Such topics included dealing with depression, and the death of loved ones, which are some of the key points in the story of 'Enoch'. After much research and through multiple test pieces, the style of the graphic novel Enoch was arrived at. Depression in the work was represented in the form of a mythical beast, and the main character went on a journey to defeat said beast. Symbolism plays a key part in the storytelling of Enoch. It can be read at face value as a fantasy story, but when certain objects and occurrences are further investigated by the reader, a deeper meaning can be found. During the making of 'Enoch', the difficulties in creating a graphic novel were understood. Multiple panels of drawings done over a large span of pages became taxing, as style needed to be maintained all the way to create an overall cohesive visual. But by the end of the project, valuable experience was gained in its making, and can be used as a footstool for further improvements in future graphic novel endeavours. 'Enoch' as a work on its own gives a new insight to the experiences of a person with depression, and its messages may potentially help or inspire someone who is suffering from such illness to begin their own roads to healing and recovery.
