Self-awareness and self-regulation should coexist to usher in new insight. Oliver Cromwell once said, "He who stops being better stops being good." Forming the simple habit of living an examined life, making conscious efforts to advance in the direction of positive growth or change are ways to regulate and better ourselves. We may not find all the answers to who we are, or who we want to be– life works mysteriously. However, the mastery of introspection and self-awareness, together with a commitment to self-regulation is a small step to take in regards to the maintenance of our emotional and mental health, as well as our personal growth. It is an attempt at self-therapy and also an understanding of how to become the best versions of ourselves. This project will be an introspective take on identity, starting from my own. Alternatively viewed as a non-traditional self-portrait, this project hopes to invoke moments of contemplation within the viewer in regards to their identity.
