Description
Summary:Tools used in modern engineering industry are usually complex and costly. To compensate for the high cost of applications, it must be reliable and have a long service life. Wear of EN1055 steel occurs by plastic displacement of surface and near-surface material and shortens the service life of its application. To resolve this problem, efforts have been made to improve the tribological properties of EN1055 steel by means of surface modification using laser surface treatment. In this study, laser surface treatment is performed with different laser parameters and operating conditions and specimens were prepared with different surface conditions. The objective for this study is to understand the impact of laser surface treatment on EN1055 steel wear properties. The optimum parameters and factors to improve wear resistance of EN1055 steel using laser surface treatment are also investigated This study was successful in understanding the wear properties of laser surface treatment on EN1055 steel and proven that laser surface treatment is a viable option to improve wear resistance of EN1055 steel At the end, suggestions for further research are also provided
