Summary:Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart defect which is present at birth. To create a valved conduit for this defect, newborn babies have to undergo reconstruction surgery. As the child grows older, the size of the reconstructed valve remains the same, whereas the partially reconstructed pulmonary conduit increases in diameter. Therefore, follow up surgery is required to replace the undersized valve. The objective of this Final Year Project (FYP) is to evaluate bi-leaflet valve design with increasing artery (conduit) diameters. Extensive experiment work was involved in this FYP that includes designing and fabricating of parts that support the testing of silicon conduits. Several silicon conduits was made and designed bi-leaflet valve was sutured for evaluation. The 14mm artificial leaflet valve is sutured onto the inner side of the silicon conduits of diameters 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm and 22mm. Pictures were taken to examine the closing and opening of the valves.
