Summary: | Currently, chord detection algorithms focus on real-time detection of chords but they are limited to 7th chords and not extended chords. A MATLAB algorithm was designed to detect chords using extended harmony. It was then compared against two other chord detection algorithms: Yamaha Chord Tracker and Transcribe!. The instruments used to for testing were a guitar and a piano. Three sets of chords with increasing difficulty was used during the testing process. It was concluded that Transcribe! could detect chords the most efficiently, followed by the MATLAB algorithm and then Yamaha Chord Tracker. Chords recorded using the guitar were also more easily detected than those recorded using the piano. |
