One of them that was popular among the hobbyists in the past few years, it was LED Cube. LED Cube is constructed using single color or tri-color LEDs into a cube-like structure with different dimensions such as 4x4x4 and 8x8x8. The cube can display changing patterns and colorful animations through the blinking LEDs at a varied and controllable time and frequency. In this project, I am exploring the possibilities of applying the LED Cube into the area of teaching such as physics, it is to explore how through the changing patterns and programmable animations can be used to illustrate the abstract concepts such as the topic on electromagnetism. The LED Cube is made of RGB LEDs, which able to display many different colors through the combination of red, green and blue. The central microcontroller is Arduino Nano and the programming language is C language. Building this LED Cube with common electronic components provides students in the future a way to replicate and learn from this project. The detailed building steps, common problems faced and suggested solutions are also included in the project report for future references.
