With the growth of hobbyist in drone around the globe, the technology has become more affordable and advanced in the recent year. This has seen drones performing tasks in various applications such as videography and photography, search and rescue missions, military and civilian surveillance. This report outlines the achievement of my Final Year Project. The project is a continuation of an earlier Final Year Project which includes designing a mobile application to control a quad-copter and fine-tuning of quad-copter for better control. This report includes the various research and parts used to complete the project, including the experience and difficulties the student encountered during the undertaking of this project. The project includes researching on current available parts to ensure the drone was kept cost-effective while providing better performance than the earlier version of drone built. The report also suggests the possible future improvements and features to be made, including autonomous flight, collision sensors and computer vision features. It is hoped that the work in this project will serve as a platform for further development of “homemade” drones, particularly targeted for the educational and home-security applications.
