Description
Summary:As the number of Internet of Things devices soars in the past decade, a wide range of smart home devices has been launched by major electronics manufacturers. However, these smart devices are usually lack in function, overpriced and have limited market availability. One of the solution is prototyping smart devices using embedded system on our own. Raspberry Pi is a suitable candidate to be used as the processing unit for this purpose because it is affordable and the open source program of it is easily available. In this project, with smart home usage in mind, an embedded system using Raspberry Pi 3 is designed as an affordable, yet highly-customisable smart mirror. The smart mirror is able to provide home entertainment functionality and monitoring functionality. Besides, the smart mirror also acts as a personal voice assistant. Each of the functionalities will be discussed in details along with the results in the later chapters.
