However, with convenience comes risks and over the years, there has been multiple instances of password-related hacking incidents. This study looks at two parts - firstly, the vulnerability of passwords is studied by cracking a MySQL server’s login password. Secondly, biometric security was explored as a possibility of complementing passwords, first by enrolling the fingerprints of 20 users and verifying the accuracy of the fingerprint scanner and then by running a JavaScript program on a web server to emulate a real-time fingerprint enrolling and verifying web application. |
