Description
Summary:Passwords are commonly used for web applications for authentication due to their flexibility and convenience. However, with convenience comes risks and over the years, there has been multiple instances of password-related hacking incidents. This study looks at two parts - firstly, the vulnerability of passwords is studied by cracking a MySQL server’s login password. Secondly, biometric security was explored as a possibility of complementing passwords, first by enrolling the fingerprints of 20 users and verifying the accuracy of the fingerprint scanner and then by running a JavaScript program on a web server to emulate a real-time fingerprint enrolling and verifying web application.
