Despite the peso crisis, the Mexican government is confident of attaining strong growth in the medium to long term. Rapid economic developments have, however, placed significant pressure on the country's existing transportation and utilities infrastructure. Without a well-developed infrastructure system, this emerging economy will find it difficult to support its next phase of economic expansion.
