With higher demands for aircrafts and lower amount of resources of land and space, maximizing the uprising capacity of air traffic is critical to every aviation authorities in the world. Conventional air traffic management is no longer applicable in handling a huge amount of air traffics. Hence, an enhanced method of air traffic flow management must be introduced to boost up the air traffic networks. This project aims to improve air traffic flow conditions by enhanced flight routing, navigating and scheduling techniques with a real time simulator, AirTOp. In aviation, a flight information region (FIR) is a specified region of airspace to monitor and provide flight information. Four airspaces would be considered for the ASEAN region in this report. These FIR are Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Bangkok. Flight data will be collected from these four FIR and simulations will be run in different scheduling methods under different scenarios and settings. In addition to the simulation conducted, discussions will be made on factors affecting en-route efficiency, such as Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM). The current air traffic condition will also be elaborated in different areas. Lastly, recommendations for future work would be raised to maximize the effectiveness of the air traffic flow conditions.
