One of the possible solution to reduce the bottled neck problem is through the use of twisted radio wave. It has the unique properties of phase singularity and a rotating wavefront. Furthermore, by changing the phase of the wavefront, it has many degrees of freedom which is associated to the amount of Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes. Although this project is a continuation of past undergraduates, the simulation does not include a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and only able to simulate twisted wave in a uniform circular array of fixed polarization such as X, Y and Z. Therefore, to improve on the previous work, a 2-Dimensional (2D) uniform circular array was completed with the ability to customize its polarization, pivot point and ground plane reflector. Furthermore, after completing the 2D array, a 3-Dimensional (3D) non-uniform array was also mapped into the different plane by doing beam steering. Moreover, a GUI was implemented to enhance user’s visibility and interaction. Additionally, observations were also done with different factors such as the number of OAM modes, antenna elements and the array radius, which will be shown and discussed in the report. Living in a media-saturated and technological world, the demand for wireless communication has continuously been increasing which resulted in a congested network. One of the possible solution to reduce the bottled neck problem is through the use of twisted radio wave. It has the unique properties of phase singularity and a rotating wavefront.
