Description
Summary:Switch mode power supply (SMPS) is widely used in the modern world to convert AC voltage source to DC power voltage; and is manufactured in various types for different applications. SMPS is commonly used these days because of its efficient operation in power conversion with a wide range of operating frequencies and voltage as well as its smaller size and lighter weight and comparable heat generation. SMPS circuit with two outputs is designed and developed by generating AC input voltage with 50Hz frequency in this project. Besides, basic concepts of SMPS are covered with different topologies and both active filters and passive filters are compared and study not only in technical view but also in cost and benefits. The design is verified and tested with simulation by using PSIM software. There are also specifications like converters, transformers and voltage control feedback loop are also taken into consideration when designing the SMPS circuit. Overall, this report is to enhance my knowledge about the SMPS, active filters vs passive filters and the usage of the PSIM software.
