Summary: | Advancement in nanotechnology has provided insights to cancer therapy considerably. Even though various photothermal nano-agents have emerged in light of the unique benefits which photothermal therapy offers in cancer therapy, semiconducting polymer nanoparticle PDVT-10 (SPN-PDVT-10) has yet to come into picture. Hence, this sets as a motivation for this study to explore the nanoparticle characteristics and photothermal properties of SPN-PDVT-10, in the search of a novel photothermal nano-agent. In this study, the synthesis and nanoparticle characterization of SPN-PDVT-10 in terms of its size and chemical structure stability, were successfully reported. Its chemical property via the tolerance with HClO was tested to further understand its chemical stability. After which, the photothermal properties of SPN-PDVT-10 was investigated, followed by its cytotoxicity and essentially its photothermal therapy efficiency. The results reported in this study are likely sufficient to push SPN-PDVT-10 to in vivo applications, paving the road towards its place as a novel and efficient photothermal nano-agent. |
