Two existing solar driven compressors for air conditioning system, namely Sedna Aire Solar Air Conditioning System and Ecoline Solar Thermal Air Conditioning System have been simulated and analysed. These two systems use the solar thermal collector to improve the system performance. A mathematical model was developed to observe the interaction between the compressor and the solar collector for both systems. The simulation model predicted that the Sedna Aire System did not save any amount of compressor work based on the assumptions made regardless of the amount of solar heat input to the system. For Ecoline Solar System, the simulation results showed that the amount of work done by compressor was reduced. Though, it was also found that this system was not sustainable, and the cycle cannot be operating continuously. The simulations have proven some potentials in energy saving of this solar driven air-conditioning system.
