Description
Summary:Emission of contaminants from industries and motor vehicles can cause air pollution that is not only detrimental to human health, but also poses a major risk to the climate of the Earth. The influence of nanotechnology in pollution remediation is discussed, describing the environmental nanotechnological solutions and its impacts. In addition, gas detection is of great significance in the regulation of atmospheric pollution. Gas detection can be achieved by using gas sensors like metal oxide semiconductor gas sensors in the forms of nano-sized particulates and nano-films. These gas sensors are very useful in sensing a wide range of gases, varying its sensing materials and applying innovative nanotechnologies in alteration of material properties, to give an optimum sensitivity and accurate detection of target gases. Metal oxide semiconductor gas sensor is explained in detail the gas sensing properties by providing a series of examples in this study. Real life applications of these gas sensors are also investigated extensively.
