Summary: | Develop vehicular wireless networks is needed to meet safety necessities, reduce traffic accidents and provide support on functionalities to the users. Dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) is an emerging wireless technology that operates at the frequency of 5.9 GHz. The aim of this project is to study and design a low-profile antenna with beam capabilities for DSRC applications. Analysis and optimisation are also included as essential procedures for providing better communication services. Design of the proposed antenna will be done by using industry-standard simulation tools. Antenna’s parameters determine the performance of the model regarding on reflection coefficient (|S11|), system gain and radiation pattern. Changes of parameters are achieved by applying different dimensions and formations of the antenna. The finalised antenna is performing with high gain and vertical linear polarisation under desire frequency band which present another achievable low-profile antenna design for DSRC applications. This project provides the student with a general guide on antenna development and presents an ideal for the future improvement of DRSC application. |
