Summary: | With the demand of energy exponentially increase throughout the years, it is essential to tackle the rising threat that might occur in the future such as power failures. The need to sustain a reliable electrical distribution network from the utility company to the consumer end plays a major impact in the economy and society. The consumer can contribute by participating in Demand Response (DR) program to help keep track of their own energy consumption. The Building Energy Management System (BEMS) graphical interface is created using the LabVIEW software and it is used throughout the project to supports the implementations during the development stages. For this project, comes in handy to support the Demand Side Management (DSM) in the building to achieve energy efficient. This include the basic requirements for a smart building like having sensors (e.g. temperature and CO2) to help the building operate at its maximum energy efficiency. In BEMS, using the hardware of real-time monitoring systems, it can track the energy usage and archive the data to the database and analyze the data in the future. The program utilizes energy management techniques (priority load shedding, load shifting and energy conversation) to keep the maximum demand of the building at a cap to maintain cost-savings and overall building energy efficiency. Therefore, generation company will not have to over-generate the power to meet the peak demand. |
