Description
Summary:Home automation has seen an explosive adoption rate among common household in recent year. More and more devices are bring brought online, controllable by the users via an app on the smartphone. Some examples are smart lighting such as Philips Hue and controllable power socket such as Belkin Wemo series. These IoT products and solutions are said to be groundbreaking as it has the potential to improve user convenience by giving users more control on their device on the go. This final year project focus on creating a fully automated home automation system for the mass market. An Arduino Mega serves as the centralized control board (Arduino Hub), gathering data from the Internet and wireless sensors connected to ESP8266 Wifi Modules. The Arduino Hub then make autonomous decision based on a predefined set of rules and control wireless output based on the decision. Such system is capable of carrying out completely autonomous operation without any input from the user.
