Description
Summary:This report presents the design of a heart rate monitoring and alerting system. The aim of this project is to help elderlies with cardiovascular disease who are living alone at home. A graphical user interface is created for user to enter the phone number which the alert text message will be sent to. It allows user to set his/her customized alert heart rate value. The heart rate values of the user are measured using a pulse sensor. When there is alert heart rate, or no heart rate detected, a LED will light up and a buzzer will emit an alert tone. The global positioning system module is activated to send the user’s location with the distress text message to the caregiver. The heart rate values are recorded in real time. It also records down the date and time when the monitoring and alerting system is activated and exited. These data are saved in the system so that it can be retrieved by families or doctors later.
