Summary: | In the industry, ultrasonic testing has been a very popular choice to conduct inspection when it comes to Non Destructive Testing (NDT). This project is on the research into the augmented reality on linear scan ultrasonic testing technology. We will look at the progress of procedures to of linear scan ultrasonic instrument and located at Nanyang Technological University Aerospace laboratory. Augmented reality ultrasonic testing is a relatively new technology and it has a list of very complicated procedures to calibrate it. I would like future operators the uses augmented reality ultrasonic instrument more conveniently and get the job done more accurately. Therefore, a simplified list of procedures for calibrating ultrasonic instrument and that linear scan ultrasonic instrument is calibrated according to that list of procedures. That list of procedures will hopefully be part of a simple instruction manual for future undergraduate students to refer when operating when continuing this project. The size of aluminium block test specimen is determined by using that linearly ultrasonic method. Since aluminium is an important material used in most transportation system in our daily life such as aircraft. Investigation for cracks and holes using augmented reality ultrasonic testing is an accurate technique looking through 3D image for operators to spot the errors. The absolute error with respect to the thickness of the aluminium will be analysed. |
