They believe a child that does well academically will also be successful in their future, allowing them good jobs and be able to earn a lot of money. As such, children become seen as a form of commodity that will allow families to climb the social ladder. So much societal pressure has been placed on children that stress levels in Singapore are much more higher than that of the world. is vicious cycle has created citizens with great grades but questionable mental health. Question remains, how far will parents go to push their kids to excel in academia?
