Description
Summary:Singapore strives to become a Smart Nation which integrates and harnesses the power of Information Communication Technologies (ICT), digital networks and data to empower its citizens to lead purposeful lives. Since its launch in 2014, the government has rolled out numerous initiatives that sought to create innovative solutions to mitigate current and future national challenges. With the increasing pervasiveness of such technologies in our daily lives, it is vital to consider the plausible repercussions to individuals. As such, this paper seeks to provide a qualitative investigation on Singaporean undergraduates to find out their (i) knowledge on Smart Nation initiatives and (ii) perception on the potential loss of individual privacy as a result of these schemes Recommendations to alleviate concerns will also be proposed in order to unleash the full potential of cutting-edge technologies.
