Description
Summary:Erosion and erosion-corrosion testing are often carried out on materials to predict their behaviour in simulated conditions. Findings from such experiments are often published without details on the experiment setup used. To reproduce these findings, other researchers would need much time to develop their experiment setups first before they can conduct the test. This project aims to develop an experimental setup that can be easily reproduced by other researchers when similar experiments are to be conducted on different materials. In this project, erosion and erosion-corrosion will be simulated on surface of NAB samples via slurry impingement. Sample weight losses measured will be used to determine the setup’s ability to produce repeatable erosion simulation on the sample surface and SEM images of the impinged area will be taken to observe for erosion-corrosion. Version four of this setup is found to be able to produce stable and repeatable simulation of erosion and erosion-corrosion on NAB samples.
