Description
Summary:Mooring operations accident is the most common and dangerous operation onboard ship. It is essential to find ways to minimize it to reduce the number of fatality and injuries onboard ship. There are many factors that causes the mooring rope to snap, human errors, incorrect use of rope etc. In this project, the effect of gap resonance when two ships are being moored together will be studied and analysed. As ships are being moored together in the middle of the ocean commonly, wave subjected to the ships are one of the key factor which causes the mooring rope to snap. Due to global warming, stronger and bigger wave can be expected, and mooring operation accidents may increase. Therefore, it is important to study the effect of gap resonance and raise the awareness of the public to find ways to solve this problem. ANSYS Fluent Student Version will be used in this project. Models will be created, downloaded and edited in Solidworks. Different distance of gap will be modify from Solidworks before transferring it to ANSYS Fluent when it will be subjected to wave. Simulations will be run, and results will be recorded and analysed.
