Description
Summary:A clockwork mechanism can keep time accurately and this will effectively provide a non-electrical solution for microfluidic work. By coupling the regular impulse provided by the clockwork mechanism to a microfluidic device or magnet, the movement of water droplets can be controlled with regular and accurate intervals without the need for an electrical supply. The goal of this project is to design and build a prototype of a clockwork mechanism to actuate a magnet to control water droplets along an arbitrary path. The working theory, detailed design, prototyping phase as well as challenges and limitations are discussed in this report as well.
