Description
Summary:Materials like premodern world maps and chronicles are important to scholars, mainly historians, who is doing their academic research. Engineering Historical Memory has a WordPress website with a plugin that allows scholars to interact with the World Map 1457 and OpenStreetMap. This feature enables the scholars to do their research more efficiently. The purpose of this project is to implement a new website with an enhanced version of the plugin which contains the World Map 1457 and OpenStreetMap, and an additional search tools that allows the scholars to do their research in a more effectively and efficiently way. The website prototype was developed using primarily Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), JavaScript (JS) and Asynchronous JavaScript And XML (AJAX). The results for the new website were remarkable as the plugin had been enhanced successfully and the new search tools was developed. While the results were admirable, there are still room for improvements. For the next similar project, it is highly recommended to work on the enhancement for the search tools to increase the accurancy for searching information.
