Summary: | MYRA (MY Robot Assistant) is a prototype of a robot system that can help assist patients, focusing mainly on the elderly. It also includes a mobile app platform for the caregiver to monitor the patient remotely. The robot consists of using Makeblock’s mBot Ranger Kit and Raspberry Pi 3 as the main components which are equipped with Fall Detection System and a Chatbot function. The Fall Detection System uses OpenCV library together with Raspberry Pi NoIR v2 Camera to help detect a human fall, and the Chatbot uses Google Assistant SDK together with a microphone and speaker. Both installed in the Raspberry Pi 3. The Google Assistant can help to process numerous requests from the patients such as the current time, weather, reminders and playing music/radio. This function will keep patients entertained and it’s easily accessible with just “talking” to the robot.
The mobile application is for the caregiver to manage and monitor the patient remotely. Through the app, the caregiver can view the live video feed of patient’s home, control robot’s movement, set reminders for the patient and also be notified of any fall detected in the patient’s home. |
