An increase in the number of vehicles on Singapore’s road, creates challenges in effective traffic management. The main aim of this project is to create a functioning ITS by analyzing different image processing algorithms. Through the different techniques used in different weather conditions, a comparison analysis was carried out and results were obtained. The flow of traffic was analyzed using MATLAB application such as Graphical User Interface and Image Processing Toolbox. The techniques used were practiced on a diversified number of weather and lighting conditions to recognize the effects of environmental factors on real-time data. The results obtained gave further insights on the most favorable processing algorithm for each individual weather and lighting conditions. It can be concluded that some segmentation methods consistently produced better results across the different weather and lighting conditions. Studies for further improvement were also visited.
